Back when Lonnie Donegan was barely a gleam in Chris Barber’s eye, the Riversiders were playing every Sunday on the banks of the river in Walton-on-Thames. Then another group with the same name played on the opposite bank (later to become the Rolling Stones). So the ORIGINAL Riversiders Logo of the Melody Maker used in the 1970swere born, covered by Melody Maker with a full-page article on July 7, 1957, headlined SKIFFLE WON’T DIE! The rest, as they say, is history.
