Grease “drive in” movie at Ilkley Lido, May 6 (From Bradford Telegraph and Argus)

The organisers of an open-air cinema are hoping their latest venture turns into the one everybody wants.

Nearly two years ago, the Friends of Ilkley Lido (FOIL) attempted to host a drive-in movie at the iconic Pool, but were thwarted at the last minute by a spate of technical issues.

But the group is trying again, this time with an open-air cinema event next month, and believes it could be the first of its kind in the district.

And FOIL is hoping fans of Grease will turn out in force in fancy dress and belt out some of the film’s most recognisable tunes to set the course for a regular feature at the landmark.
